Jenna Jaxon: "My Best Christmas Present Ever"

One of my most precious Christmas memories was the birth of my daughter three days after Christmas. That Christmas the story of the nativity had a special meaning, even though we knew our child wasn't going to be born until January. I was confined to bed, so I had to send a co-worker out to get my presents for my husband. I did manage to wrap them, however. The only one I remember distinctly was a book called "A Wish for Wings that Work," about the little penguin Opus who finally gets to fly.

Christmas morning my husband defied the doctor and took me to my parents while he went off to play piano at church. Then in the afternoon he took me back home and got his cousin out of the nursing home to spend Christmas with us. Three days later (a Wednesday) during a routine check-up the doctor decided I needed a C-section NOW! The umbilical cord had prolapsed (a very serious condition) so I had to go to the hospital immediately. My husband asked, "Can I go home and get her suitcase?' and the doctor shouted "No" and the next thing I knew I was being wheeled into the operating room. So our little bundle arrived two weeks early and just missed having a Christmas birthday.

Two days later we took pictures of her in her red plaid sleeper, in a baby bouncer underneath the Christmas tree, with a Santa hat on her head and sent them out as birth announcements. My best Christmas present ever. :)

Kristine Cayne: "The Christmas That Almost Wasn't"

Melissa, thank you so much for inviting me to participate in your Christmas celebration. It’s an honor.

For me, Christmas and the holiday season have always been about family. My mother is from a very large family, and each year, we would celebrate Christmas Eve with two of her sisters. All told, we’d usually be over twenty, and as people began to have children of their own, we grew to nearly forty. We’d alternate homes, and the party would usually last several days. I remember one year in particular when the party was at our house. There were mountains of presents, special meals and treats made only at Christmas, and of course, glorious decorations, including a pottery crèche scene my mother made and painted. My mother brought out all our best dishes for the Christmas Eve and Christmas Night dinners. We used the good china, the silver flatware, and the crystal glasses. One of my fondest memories is of playing endless games of monopoly and checkers with my favorite cousin. (See the photo. Weren’t we adorable?) It was a magical time.

Unfortunately, like all good things, those times came to an end. I now live far away, and it’s been over six years since I’ve spent the Christmas Holidays with my family. But this year, most of us are getting together to enjoy a week of fun with fourteen of us crammed into one house. I’m sure there will be some ups and downs, and some crankiness. Still, it won’t keep the happiness away because we almost had to call the celebration off. Last week, my mother fell and for a while, the doctors thought she’d broken her hip or her pelvis. After many x-rays and scans, they finally concluded that no bones were broken. She’s using a walker to get around until her muscles heal, but she’ll be able to take an airplane and join us. Thank heaven for stubborn and kick-ass old ladies!

Merry Christmas to everyone and Happy New Year!

Blurb: A firefighter desperate to save his failing marriage earns the trust—and the sexual submission—of his controlling wife in the most pleasurable of ways.

After an explosive one-night stand results in pregnancy, Jamie Caldwell is thrilled to marry the perfect foil to his Dom side. But when his submissive wife starts cringing every time he gives a command, Jamie shackles his dark desires. A bout of rough, frenzied reunion sex makes him wonder if now he should free the Dom he’s kept in chains and teach Erica the joys of submission and sexual surrender.

Erica Caldwell secretly loved every sinful thing Jamie did to her on their first night together. However, terrified she’ll become a codependent doormat like her mother, she repeatedly rejects Jamie’s dominance, despite craving the kind of release only he can give her—the release that comes from yielding to Jamie’s every demand.

Hoping that the trust required by BDSM will help them rebuild their faith in each other, Jamie and Erica embark on a journey of sexual exploration. But is it too late to repair their crumbling marriage?

Under His Command is a brand new release for Kristine this week. Congratulations, Kristine!

Blurb: When an Oscar-winning movie star meets a department-store photographer…

Movie star Nic Lamoureux appears to have a playboy’s perfect life. But it’s a part he plays, an act designed to conceal a dark secret he carries on his shoulders. His empty days and nights are a meaningless blur until he meets the woman who fulfills all his dreams. She and her son are the family he’s always wanted—if she can forgive a horrible mistake from his past.

A Hollywood dream…

Lauren James, a widowed single mother, earns barely enough money to support herself and her son. When she wins a photography contest and meets Nic, the man who stars in all her fantasies, her dreams, both professional and personal, are on the verge of becoming real. The attraction between Lauren and Nic is instant—and mutual. Their chemistry burns out of control during a photo shoot that could put Lauren on the fast track to a lucrative career.

Becomes a Hollywood nightmare

But an ill-advised kiss makes front-page news, and the lurid headlines threaten everything Nic and Lauren have hoped for. Before they know what’s happening, their relationship is further rocked by an obsessed and cunning stalker who’ll stop at nothing—not even murder—to have Nic to herself. When Nic falls for Lauren, the stalker zeroes in on her as the competition.

And the competition must be eliminated.
